Toothache Pain Sidelining Your Holiday Fun? 3 Natural Ways To Dull The Pain

Posted on

Now you have holiday parties coming up, you might not know how you're going to get through them with the root canal pain you're experiencing. If you're going to be enjoying alcoholic beverages during your holiday parties, you'll want to avoid prescription medications. That doesn't mean you have to go without pain relief. Here are three natural ways to alleviate the pain while you enjoy the party.

Massage Your Gums with Clove Oil

Clove oil contains a natural pain relief ingredient that can work quickly to alleviate the discomfort you're experiencing. Place a small amount of clove oil on your fingertip and massage the gums around your affected tooth.

You can also use a whole clove to relieve the pain. Simply crush the clove until it forms a fine powder and place it in a small amount of olive oil. Rub the mixture on your gums and leave it in place for several minutes. Rinse well with cool water and repeat the process at least three times a day.

Rinse Your Mouth with Tea Tree Oil

You never know when you or someone you love is going to develop a nasty tooth ache. Be prepared by having essential oils on hand—especially tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is highly effective at reducing the pain and inflammation associated with a tooth ache. You can either rinse your mouth with the oil or apply it directly to your gums.

To use as an oral rinse, place 8-10 drops in a glass of lukewarm water. Swish small amounts of the solution around in your mouth until you've emptied the glass. Place 10 drops of tea tree oil in a glass of warm water and gargle at least three times a day. If you'd prefer, you can place about 4 drops of the oil on a piece of medical gauze and place it directly over the affected tooth. Leave the gauze in place for at least 5 minutes.

Add Wheat Grass to Your Diet

Toothache pain can be caused by the bacteria that builds up around a cavity. To kill the bacteria and dull the pain until you can get to the dentist, try adding wheat grass to your diet. You can place wheat grass in a blender with your favorite juice and drink it several times a day. You can also chew on wheat grass for rapid relief.

Toothache pain doesn't have to sideline you during the holiday season. Use these simple home remedies to dull the pain until you can get to the dentist (or to clinics like Dodson Endodontics).
